Conceptual Schema Impact uncontrolled landfill - Adapted from conceptual model of landfill exposure sources and environmental pathways (source - Petts, J and Edulgee, G. Environmental Impact Assessment for Waste Treatment and Disposal Facilities. p 229. John Wiley and Sons, Chichester. 1994)

Uncontrolled waste dumpsites present following impacts towards environment:
* Impregnation of soil and groundwater with contaminated liquids (waste leaching);
* Contaminated waters are then contaminating vegetation and at the end the population;
* Agriculture is using contaminated waters and at the end, the population is impacted;
* Population could drink contaminated water from wells;
* When waste is burning, release in the air of toxic substances, directly impacting the population.
